On November 16, 2012, the folks at ElderLawAnswers.com reported that the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services just announced the “2013 SSI and Spousal Impoverishment Standards”, effective January 01, 2013.
If things are the same as last year, it will probably be a few weeks before CMS posts this on its website or in a location that is “citable”. Likewise, it will likely be a few weeks before the California Department Healthcare Services issues an All County Welfare Directors Letter affirming these numbers. In any event, as reported, here is what they will be in California:
Medi-Cal for Long-Term Care
MMMNA: $2,898 per month
CSRA: $115,920
Home-equity limits: $802,000 (upper limit per CMS), once the DRA is effective. [Note to colleagues: the DRA is not yet fully effective in California]
SSI:
Single individual: FBR is $710 per month
Couple: FBR is $1066 per month
SSI resource standards: no change: $2000 for single individual and $3000 for a couple
Substantial Gainful Activity ( SGA) limit: $1,040; however, if applicant is blind, SGA is $1740)
